SlipKnoT et rien que SlipKnoT !!! (les mouttons barrez vous)

A l'origine le groupe SlipKnot devait se nommer "The Pales Ones", il prend naissance à Des Moines en IOWA en Septembre 1995, à l'origine de la formation du groupe, ils n'étaient que 5 :

- Kong (Shawn Crahan) : Batterie
- Paul Gray : Bassiste
- Anders Colsefini : Chant
- Kun Nong : Guitare
- Donnie Steele (Donald Steele) : Guitare

Pour la création du groupe Kong avait déjà prévu le port des masques, non pas pour être reconnu mais pour que le public, puisse se concentrer sur la musique, mais également des combinaisons pour qu'ils se ressemblent tous. Dans les débuts du groupe Kong se produisait en costume de Père Noël.

C'est au mois d'Octobre 1995 que e groupe voit déjà son line up transformé, c'est le départ de Kun Nong, à ce moment précis Shawn ayant assez de la batterie cherche quelqu'un pour le remplacer. Au environ du 15 Octobre Nathan (Joey Jordison), qui est un grand ami de Paul Gray, fera de nombreuse auditions avant de pouvoir prétendre au post de batteur, toujours au mois d'Octobre au autre ami de Paul, Josh Brainard sera recruté en tant que second guitariste pour pallier le départ de Nong.

La première représentation du Groupe (6 membres) toujours sans nom officiel, se produit avec le nom de "PySYSTEM" au mois de Novembre 1995 (en réalité le 31 Octobre pour Halloween), dans un petit bar appelé "The Crowbar". Pour la toute première représentation, ils avaient la tête maquillée pour la distinction, c'est après leur production que le concept des masques fût adopté sauf pour Donnie qui s'y refusait.

Le problème pour le nom du groupe ne tarda pas à survenir. Ils hésitèrent longtemps pour "PyGYSTEM", "The Pales Ones" ou encore "Meld". C'est à ce moment que le nom "SlipKnoT" fit son apparition, le groupe entier opta pour ce nom qui sortait d'un maquette "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat" (dit MFKR). Qui selon Joey Jordison "que c'est un titre facile à retenir avec 2 syllabes qui sonnent extrêmement bien".

Pour l'enregistrement définitif de MFKR, le line up du groupe est le suivant car il y eu quelques changement :

- Paul Gray : Bassiste et "coeur"
- Anders Colsefini : Chant et Percussions
- Donnie Steele : Guitare (quitte le groupe en Janvier 1996, sera remplacé par Mick Thompson en Avril de cette année)
- Josh Brainard : Lead Guitare et "coeur"
- Nathan (Joey Jordison) : Batterie
- 133MhZ (Craig Jones) : Samples

le noms des pistes se trouvant sur cette n'est en moins beauté et rareté (tirée à 1 000 exemplaires monde) sont :

- Tattered & Torn (ou Tattered And Torn)
- Confessions
- Some Feel
- Killers Are Quiet
Et bien sûr déjà une chanson cachée : - Dogfish Rising (elle se trouve après Killers Are Quiet, c'est un Sampler).

C'est en Décembre 1995 que débute l'enregistrement de l'album, seul ces 8 pistes furent retenues sur les 21 écrites, après plus de 1 200 heures passées en studios et 40 000$ (d'endettement pour Shawn Crahan qui ne produit que les 1 000 exemplaires monde de cet album a sa charge), le mixage de l'album prit fin en Juin 1996. Il sorti pour Halloween 1996. Dès sa sortie, il rencontra un vif succés.

Kun Nong quitta le groupe en premier en Octobre 1995, suivi par Donnie Steele (Donald Steele) en Janvier 1996, Donnie sera remplacé par Craig Jones. Ils étaient tout deux les guitaristes du groupe. Il formérent également le premier duo guitariste dans l'histoire du groupe entre Septembre 1995 et Octobre 1995.
